Finding Each Other

Today I'm happy because Susan is wearing one blue shoe and one black shoe. We all had a good laugh. This is why I do not own navy blue anything.

Bill says the sweetest things to Travis and me...well, now. He used to ask if we were mentally deficient in some way, but now that we've gotten our whole thing straightened out, he's almost giddy.

Yesterday was, all in all, a good day. Tonight, after the gym, I'm going to do some laundry, read something (my World Religions book? My new Vonnegut book? My Real simple magazine? My The Economist magazine? Oh, the pressures of being a book/magazine worm!) and maybe watch some Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I need an evening of rest...that high-strung and bizarrely co-dependent side of my personality comes out when I approach exhaustion, and I don't much care for her.

Don't you love walking into a room and being bombarded with congratulations when you don't know why? Yesterday was Tracy's birthday party (Surprise!) and it was a blast! Gerard and I walked in at the same time and everyone began hollering congrats at us...but neither of us had any idea why...because we were cast as Isabelle and Ebeneezer in Scrooge! As much as there is a female lead in the show, I think that's the one. Again, I don't know the show at ALL, but Nathan tells me I have a beautiful and very difficult song (sweet!). Gerard plays the younger Scrooge, and I his fiancee...then later in the show, we reappear as Scrooge's nephew and his wife Helen. I'm very thrilled! Sure it means bailing out on Bay Street, which I hate to do ... but gas being what it is, and this being my little family now, I'd rather stay close to home and the people I love. I go through a tank of gas every four days as it is, at 50 miles per gallon, so I don't really want to make a bad situation worse. Besides, I mean...Cathy, Nathan, Jen, Lynne, Diana, Amber (who I haven't had a chance to work with onstage yet!), Billy, Eric, Gerard, McKenzi, Layne, Tracy...probably tons more people I don't even know about yet...it's my little home away from home now.

I set Jan off last night...when Gerard and I were telling Tracy what roles we would be playing, I exclaimed, "We're getting married!" Believing I was speaking of myself and Travis, Jan hollered excitedly, "Did I just hear an announcement?!" I corrected the misunderstanding and assuaged her with the news that we had taken the plunge into shared minutes. That oughta tide everyone over for a bit, yeah?

Oh, and by the by...did I mention that Travis will be playing Bob Cratchet? We get to do a show together again! And he has the Mickey Mouse part! (I'm sorry, my best recollection of the Scrooge tale is the Disney version with Scrooge McDuck, where Mickey plays Bob.) And I don't have to slap him this time, and he doesn't have to beat me up! Well, at least not on stage.

It's certainly a step for Alyson, the Commit-o-phobe. I've never shared an account on anything with anyone.
