A Weekend Of...

It was about as much fun as a weekend can be without actually, well, accomplishing anything.

Saturday was a comedy of errors in its entirety. After getting up at 7:30 to do my chores (go me!), I hopped on the training bike to go for a little ride (go me again!) while waiting for Travis to arrive so we could go to Daytona and hit the beach (go us!). We finally headed out around 11:30 (oops), and after pit stops with family and for food, we got to the beach and set up chairs, towels, lunch, a me-me photo...

Daytona

Please note the clear blue sky. About ten minutes after we took this photo, the rain clouds settled in and began dumping torrents, complete with thunder and lightning - hurray for Florida! We went for ice cream instead (an adventure in and of itself) and headed back to Orlando...although the drive back was fairly entertaining. So basically what we did was drive to Daytona for a Publix sub and an ice cream cone...and of course a little utterly harmless mayhem, as always.

After a freaking fantastic show (during which I actually got knocked in the head with one of the wooden stools - I mean it, they're out to get me!), I was supposed to attend a party, but that fell through...sort of. I got the "Okay, I'm ready if you are" call after I was already at home in bed. Here's the kicker - I actually got up, got dressed, and made the one-hour drive to the party - which was ending as we arrived. I did get to catch the end of the Drunken Pat Show, which really deserves a studio audience. "Hey...hey...you should make you come to us...no, make him make you...wait. Make him bring us to you...no...damn..." We ended up at Bill and Tracy's, of course. Infinite X-Box gaming possibilities, and we still just turn off the lights and play Fatal Frame until someone gets really terrified and cries or wets the bed or screams loud enough to wake up the whole building. (Or until Alyson gets tired/cranky and leaves, at which point I assume all activity stops and everyone cries themselves to sleep because I'm not there....yeah, that's so totally what happens.)

Gerard Bear

Gerard zonked out first, cuddled up with a Care Bear, no less. Precious.

PorchLayne

A girl and her beer, alone on the porch. Love the pitiful face.

Sunday morning was pretty much all the things a Sunday morning should be: a bit of lazing around before finally getting up for a homemade breakfast, a snuggle with a kitten, a bunny-search, a shower, and a matinee. Too bad it all followed a brisk four hours of sleep - but at least I didn't settle on driving home and end up wrapped around a tree at 5:00 a.m.

I finally got around to grabbing some backstage photos.

Colin Alex

Colin, as Oliver, and Alex, as Dodger. Goobers. But great little goobers.

JenDude

The lovely JenB2 as a chubby dude. She's soon to be seen as Bianca in Taming of the Shrew (hopefully sans beard and fat suit.)

Cathy Nathan Billy

Our hard-working Director-With-A-Capital-D Cathy, Nathan as Bill Sykes, and Billy as Fagin.

Oliver Kids

Alex (the kid's a ham and a half, isn't he?), me, and the beautiful McKenzi, with a little bit of cute Sean face in the background.

As for Sunday Night Fringe...well, let's try that again tomorrow, shall we? Because a simple sushi dinner at Amura becomes immensely complicated and time-consuming when the staff is busy kissing the asses of a bunch of drunken radio personalities and Predators cheerleaders. It was pretty much worth it just to see Travis (playfully, I believe) chase down and threaten a bike messenger for speaking to me, then sling me over his shoulder and carry me across the street like a caveman. Yep, so goes the game of "Bad Couple". It keeps us entertained, and that's really all that matters.

So there you have it. Beach: Check (well...sorta...not really). Bonfire/Party: Check (kinda...but not really). Fringe: Check (nope, pretty much a total wash).

And yet I can say I had a really fun weekend. Gotta love that.

Safe travel wishes to Sarah (California) and Gerard (New Jersey). Vacations - sigh.

Cough cough **five days to my birthday** cough.

Oh, and I don't know anything about this, but if you're not doing anything on Saturday the 28th around 12:30 or so, please feel free to swing by Joe's Crab Shack in Kissimmee on 192. Not that there's going to be a little lunch gathering or anything... (That's not the surprise...just the lunch plans I overheard.)
