Some Thoughts on Jaime Foxx, Etc.

I'm so happy he won for Ray. His speech made me cry, seriously. The fact that they cut to every black person in the audience after he won and throughout his speech made me laugh, and made me embarassed for the producers of the Globes. And the fact that an actor in a drama won the Globe for actor in a comedy or musical has to be upsetting for legitimate comedic actors, for whom this category is basically the only shot they get during awards season. A movie should not qualify as a musical just because it's the biography of a musician. I dispute that whole "comedy or musical" category - why can't it be "comedy" or "drama", and whichever category your musical happens to fall into, there you go.

I love how frenetic Robin Williams is. He must be exhausting in person, but he's unbelievably gifted.

I love these awards shows. I thrive on watching people get the chance to be themselves and be gracious. I especially love seeing the people who don't get any recognition other than these moments - cinematographers, composers, editors. As for me, I have been practicing my acceptance speech in my bathroom mirror since I was seven years old. I will never ever give up on the hope, the belief, the goal that I will have the opportunity to thank you publicly some day for being a part of my life.
