Funkytown

Today I am happy because I had a hour-and-fifteen-minute chat with Travis last night, and he always makes me laugh. Today I am happy because I have friends who make me feel safe. Today I am happy because I have friends who make sacrifices. Today I am happy because I receive better than I deserve every single day.

Unfortunately it was almost midnight when that conversation started, which means today I (and I am certain he as well) am tired and cranky.

I would never call someone at midnight just to chat. Under normal circumstances.

Everyone keeps talking about the Oscar nominations and the movies they have seen, and I HAVE to get on the ball!! There are WAY too many movies I have yet to see. Can anyone tell me why I have been to Saw but haven't yet seen Sideways, Finding Neverland, Ray, Hotel Rwanda, The Aviator... All the great little films I caught didn't make the nominations (or at least as many as they should have) this year. Whatever happened to Maria Full of Grace, The Motorcycle Diaries, We Don't Live Here Anymore, Garden State, A Very Long Engagement...? I think ever since the Independent Spirit Awards came along, the Oscars have felt better about leaving the little guys behind.

We Don't Live Here Anymore - now THERE'S a movie I could totally get lost in right at this moment.

Yay! Someone else is sticking up for We Don't Live Here Anymore! How disappointing that it was overlooked.

Just to let you know -- I am a nocturnal woman and often welcome calls at midnight. In fact, I'm more liable to answer the phone then .. :-)
