Boo!!!

Stupid Academy!! Stupid voters!! I refuse to accept that Zach Braff didn't get a nomination for Best Original Screenplay. I HATE that the Oscars only make room for one funny yet heartwarming indie film each year. I know, I know, Sideways was real great, I get it - but it steamrollered Garden State and I'm always going to hate it for that. And I'll never forgive the Academy for the oversight.

(On the other hand, there were some really nice inclusions - nominations here.)

On to happier news: Orlando is getting an IKEA! It's probably going to be about a year before it's built and open, but hey, it's good news! And they beat out Wal-Mart for the location. Thank God, because we need another one of those corporate whoremongers like a hole in the head. And I don't have to drive all the way to North Carolina to find a Wal-Mart.

Finally, after hearing many good things, I let a stranger's recommendation be the final vote and downloaded Gwen Stefani's new album. (Thanks, Gigi!) I love it! Even the stuff I don't like as much is so bad it's good. Very cheerleader-y, upbeat. Good cycling music - has kind of a Red Bull-like ability to boost energy.

Songs for the Day:

"Canned Heat", Jamiroquai (AKA the Napoleon Dynamite "DANCE!" song. Brilliant - try, just TRY to stay in a bad mood while listening to this song.)

"In Your Eyes", Peter Gabriel (I maintain that this is the most romantic song I've ever heard, and the image of John Cusack standing in a driveway holding a boom box over his head and blasting this song is completely burned into my brain as one of the most romantic things I've ever seen.)
