I Can't Believe We're Doing This...
Saturday's show ROCKED!! Billy, Eric, and Britteny came to the show and laughed it up - we added a LOT of stuff that was just for them, and the rest of the audience seemed to enjoy it. What a crowd. We crashed Chili's, then crashed Bill & Tracy's, as usual, for video games and general revelry. Sunday's show...bleh. Ken Rush came to see it, which was very nice, but the audience wasn't really participatory, and we didn't add anything special.
Sunday night was awesome - Sarah, Eric, Billy and I were to meet at Universal for Saw, but after some clever maneuvering on my part, Billy and I took to The Incredibles, which Eric and Sarah had already seen, and they went for Saw. Disclaimer: Billy did hesitate for a moment because he had promised to see the movie with Jen...of course, we had already bought our tickets by then. The Incredibles was AWESOME!!!! People at work who have kids are griping because it was "too long for a cartoon." Anyone who calls a Pixar movie a "cartoon" should be shot. These are meant to be films that happen to be animated, with all the plot and character development that goes into a film. Anyway, it was spectacular. Then, because Sarah and Eric (and J, who had wished me farewell by saying "Tell me what you think of the twist!") were so enthusiastic about the wicked ending of Saw that made up for the crappy movie, Billy and I made the insane decision to go ahead and seen two movies in one night...and it was AWFUL! We kept closing our eyes and trying to relive the glory of The Incredibles. Poor Cary Elwes - he used to be an actor, but it's not clear what happened. Well, I take it back - it might not have been a bad movie, really, just some bad elements (like, you know, the script...and the actors...). Besides, it was better when it was called Seven. Sometimes you can try too hard when creating atmosphere. Then we joined Eric and Sarah in Shark Tale, where we sat for about four minutes before walking out and grabbing a few minutes of The Incredibles just to put that back in our heads. So all in all, a tripped-out movie mini-marathon ending in a very short night of sleep before coming to work.
And I am amassing a group to see Rocky Horror (yes, again) on Friday at 11:00. If anyone's interested, let me know before it sells out!
A few tidbits I particularly enjoyed from the good movie:
Mom: Everyone's special, Dash.
Dash: Which is another way of saying no one is.
Mr. Incredible, to Mrs. Incredible: You are my greatest adventure.
