Week-End Update

Ahh, I love my newly boring life!!

This week's activities involved grocery shopping, fancy Valentine's dinner (mmm), massages, and some TiVo catchup. I even managed to pick up a bit of the Olympics male figure skating last night....I just want to bring Johnny Weir home, slap a wig and some eyeliner on him, and make him a pretty pretty princess.

It wasn't actually today, it was earlier this week, but I'm still happy today because I gave to NPR. I'm apparently extremely old because I now listen to solely NPR on the radio and I didn't know who any of the new artist nominees at the Grammys were. But I do love me some NPR, so I threw them a chunk of cash in exchange for two tickets to see David Sedaris and an autographed copy of his latest book. Everybody wins.

Travis, while we were (finally) grocery shopping, commented that he secretly was sort of excited about my new goals - cook and knit more - because it was so domestic. It's kind of like having a real live housewife, huh?

I think I'm going to have a bit of an adjustment this weekend. There were moments of the show that were really precious to me - getting all in Billy's face, dragging Eric onstage by his hair, cuddling Mommy-style with Rainey at the end of that one song (it was MY SONG and I still couldn't tell you the name of it, but I do know that on the last show, I looked at her and had to keep myself from crying at the end....and I didn't do a very good job at that), going all crazy and throwing beans at everyone, and so on. I had a moment during the show Sunday when I thought, "You know, this could be the last time I'm on stage for a really long time....or ever again....wow."

Knitting News! (This section always comes with a warning, as I swear I will not turn this into a knitting-only blog and I don't want anyone to find themselves halfway into a paragraph about purls and cables and my struggles with intarsia wondering "Wait....where the hell's the punchline on this thing?") So I'm working on a Cat-ghan - like an afghan, but for kittens - for Susan's cat, whose name I believe is Cat Number 23, who just had kittens. In a bit of really poor planning, I'm making it from two colours that resemble buttered popcorn when combined (baby yarn), and the idea seemed terribly clever until I realized that if the kittens piddle on it, most likely no one will be able to tell. Duh. Oh well. It's a new stitch for me - not too complicated, just the same short pattern row after row, but hey it's not just 50 rows of garter stitch either. (End Knitting News transmission.)

Tonight's Friday night, which means....nothing! Hahahaha!!! We'll probably just sit around in jammies and watch Hustle and Flow and eat hot fudge out of the jar. Because we can.

I think they will be able to tell that the cat piddled on it...cat urine being so high in Amonia that even pure amonia cringes at the thought of smelling it. Gah... Anyway...I won't miss you dragging me onto the stage by my hair..that wasn't the best part of the show for me...or my roots...and since the new haircut you'd be hard pressed to get enough of a handful of hair to even drag me on.
