Sigh.
I wanted to wait for pictures to post something, but I haven't gotten around to it. And for some reason, in my head I'm picturing all my friends and a few loyal strangers logging onto my blog a few times a day, wringing their hands and fretting that I must not be okay because I haven't posted.
It was a spectacular weekend, filled with family (mostly Travis', although I did get several phone calls in with my mom and Jessi) and movies and presents and naps and laziness. (I'm not really including yesterday's day off in that, since it pretty much consisted of me sitting at Toyota of Orlando for over three hours waiting on a simple 45K service, having to cancel my lunch with Travis because of the wait, and going home and taking a heinously long nap instead of doing anything else remotely productive.)
We saw The Chronicles of Narnia on Friday with Travis' sister and mom. Travis didn't enjoy it as much as us girls, but it was an excellent movie. Except one thing - I didn't really like any of the children. Sort of important in a tale like that....I got the feeling they didn't actually audition for the children's roles, though...just sort of drew names out of a hat. I really don't think that you were actually supposed to hope that Peter gets killed by the White Witch (who I LOVED, by the way.) But nonetheless, it was a really good movie...I just would have replaced, at the very least, Susan and Peter.
As for Saturday, we finally got out of bed and started making ourselves useful around, oh, 2:30. It was so great to have a day of no plans, and we took full advantage of it. I had to go to the grocery store, and that was it. Then it was dinner at his mom's and opening up our Christmas morning jammies. (The tradition in the Johnson household is that everyone gets new jammies on Christmas Eve - that way the pictures in the morning are super-cute.)
Obviously, Sunday was filled with presents and family and food...and food...and food. I got a TON of stuff...some favourites include Becky's matted and framed sketch from Man of La Mancha drawn by our costumer Diana; the necklace, knitted bag, and yarn and knitting goodies from Mom; the big soft yummy blanket and throw from Travis (I'd been drooling over the blanket for months, and it has the fiercest sleep monster in it...I've fallen victim to four naps since Christmas morning); the oodles of DVDs I have to watch like RIGHT NOW; and the diamonds.
Yeah, he did it again...except it was supposed to be a New Year's surprise on our trip and through a series of missteps, I found out about it...so he gave in and presented me with a beautiful three-stone diamond necklace that made me cry...and cry...and cry. Between that, and the Christmas letter, and the slow-dance to "After All" in our kitchen, and the family, and King Kong (I'm a wuss, I was wailing by the end), it was a very teary Christmas.
I hate to have Christmas be about stuff, I really do...but damn if I didn't get some really good stuff this year! And I am so excited to give Travis his present...four days and counting to our fabulous vacation.
Oh, and Brodie and Bitty had a nice little talk and decided to try being friends - there was much Christmas romping and playing, and that just made us so happy. Don't worry, you'll be seeing pictures, and pictures, and more pictures.
Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas and will get to see me soon! (That means "I missed you" in tough-chick.)
