Into the Moonlight

So I feel like it's old news now, since Eric broke it already. (I didn't blog it last night because I wanted to tell Marcie first....but then Eric opened his big fat blog. Hey, you like how I say all of this like I've never squealed about anyone's good news here, including Eric's? I'm so full of it.)

This is a pretty good cast to work with. Most of my good friends are involved. Or have been asked to be involved.

I'm The Witch. I'm dying here - so so excited ... this is one of my dream roles, and my exciting big chance of the season, like Aldonza was last year. I would really really really like everyone to actually come SEE me in this show, though. (Ahem.)

Tracy's Baker's Wife, Eric's Jack (Yay!!!), Kyle is Prince A, Nathan is Prince B (with each one's girlfriend/wife playing the second princesses), Tom's the Narrator, and Billy is hopefully the Wolf, which I would love to see him play because it's fun to see him play the menacing characters - he was a spectacularly effective Fagin in Oliver. (Please work with me again Billy McCoy - I so love the time I get to spend with you.) And Travis is our little drummer boy...I had (emptily) threatened to not allow him to do the show if Jan didn't cast me, but that was always BS and she knew it, since there's no way to stop that man from doing what he wants...or to make him do something he flatly doesn't wish to do. His convictions are sound - I love that, even if I hate it sometimes. Hee. Not only that...but that's so petty, and not something I would ever do. Still, I love that my guy's going to be around for this project, since it's going to be so great.

I'm playing a Bernadette Peters role. I can't get that out of my head for some reason - I used to absolutely not be able to stand her, but I outgrew it and now she's the goddess in my mind she deserves to be. Now, to play the role differently from her. Oh, but her choices were so GOOD.

Poor Ray misses his wife! Eh, let him come to the theatre...he knows where you are!! We need you too!

I want Marcie in my show. And Rainey. And Rick as Baker, if not Billy. Waiting impatiently. (sound of foot tapping)

Congrats major big time! Woo hoo!

And don't forget, Bernadette made great choices... for Bernadette. She is of a very specific type and style. If you saw Valencia's production of ITW earlier this year, our Witch constantly mimicked Bernadette and it was painful at times. If you even try to do that, I will personally run up on stage and rip that cape off of you. Have faith in yourself. You can come up with an Alyson interpretation that is equally as good, if not better for you.

There's not an ounce of cute Bernadetteness in me. And my mother would murder me if she saw even a hint of her. (My initial dislike was hereditary - my mom still cringes at the sound of her voice.)

I'm playing with some ideas, some undertones. I like the idea of hinting ever so slightly at a strange fixation with the Baker's Wife. Not obvious at all, but just barely....
