Stop Start Stop Start

Closing chapters, getting ready for vacations, bonding...

Yesterday was a pretty good day. Last show of 1940s Radio Hour. I'm glad I did the show, I think - it's the first time I've done a show in a long time for less than selfish reasons. But I'm such a fan of Jeff Lindberg that I really just wanted to help, and there was the selfish element of wanting to watch him and learn. I probably could have done a better job as a techie, but at least I followed through, mostly.... Any old way, what a phenomenal cast - they had a decent audience for their last performance, and deserved it. Really talented group of people, funny, clever, all that. I've never mentioned David Almeida before, but I've been meaning to - comic genius, that guy. There's not a single person in the show that I wouldn't want to see in something else soon.

Last night I had to meet Travis (my friend with the abs, apparently, which made his day...) to give him keys and instructions on pet care, and so what the hell, let's go dirt-biking and oh my GOD is that so much fun! When I first drove up, he ripped out in front of me and jetted ahead, jumping little hills and things, and I'm thinking there is no way I'm doing this, so he did have to convince me a little - but it was a blast! Of course, they're not made for two people and I had nowhere to put my feet, so I had to keep my legs tucked up, which was a good workout, and we couldn't do anything too crazy other than go really fast, but man....I gots to get me one of those! We got something to eat, since I'd had a yogurt and nothing else all day (I have lost four pounds so far!) and then decided to catch Lemony Snicket, since J and Phillip had gone to see it without me on Saturday (hrrmph). Cute flick - clever art direction, pretty true to the books (which I enjoyed immensely on audiobook as read by Tim Curry). Jim Carrey was a little too Jim Carrey for Count Olaf as I perceived him in the books, but still a ton of fun to watch. And the 14 year-old girl who played Violet was distractingly attractive - she is going to be a strikingly beautiful woman.

I leave for vacation tomorrow! Yay - just me and J and the folks - which is good, J and I need to spend some good quality time together.

Good karma wishes to Jeff, please, as he starts his new puppy-filled life.

End transmission.
