Ever After, After All....

Opening weekend of Scrooge went very well! A few lurches here and there...but overall I think it's a show to be proud of, and I'm particularly pleased with my own portrayal of Isabel. As always, the disclaimer stands that I'm not the world's strongest actor - but Travis' mom REALLY did not like how truly in love I appeared to be with Gerard (Young Ebenezer). And my "Leaving Ebenezer" scene is one of my most favourite scenes I've ever done. At Sunday's performance, I had Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past in tears onstage during it. Yippee.

And TRAVIS!!!! He did SO wonderfully on his first weekend! I was so proud I cried...often...he's turned out to be a much better actor than even I gave him credit for. (Sigh.)

The rest of the weekend was a blur of shopping, Thai food (yum, Thai Lotus in Clermont - Otto rocks), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (awesome! awesomeawesome!!!), discovering that Bath and Body Works carries other lines besides their own now, including the Henri Bendel line of amazing (ly expensive) candles (I had to throw down for the Firewood candle - Christmas is coming!), and trying to spend some quality time together.

The only real bump in the weekend was that I was not able to make it out to Valencia to see You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, starring some of my favourite people. The day just really did not go as well as I would have liked, and circumstances...well, the point being, Eric, I am very sorry and I will find some way to make it up to you. (Friday night, you get THREE kisses instead of two!)

There's something else I wanted to mention...ummm....

Ah yes.

My new bling! This is not THE ring, it's A ring. (And I know it's hard to make out here, but it's a beautiful diamond band...that Travis picked out all by himself!) Travis the Modest gets a little shy about me going around flashing it, but...what a nice surprise, to put it mildly! I refer to it as my housewarming present from him...

And right after he gave it to me, he switched over to the radio to see if 107.7 has started its all Christmas music all the time thing yet...and the first line we picked up of the song on the radio was "I guess it must be fate." Goosebumps! I hate blogging lyrics to songs...but "After All" by Cher and Peter Cetera is really uncannily perfect for us, so I'll let you either recall the song, if you know it, or look them up...and what a creepy time to discover that song. This is when we both throw our hands up and declare "Okay, we get it! How many signs do you really think we need?!"

The ring is beautiful!
I can't wait to see youse guys in the show - possibly next weekend? Still working out the details, but inclined to see it sooner as opposed to later.

Alyson,
As I said on thursday, you were absolutely delightful as Isabel. You've got range girl, and not just on the vocal side. I love reading your blog, keeps me in touch with my theatre family since I can't be around as much as I'd like. Keep breaking legs!! and I'll see you all soon.
