Hey Addy-Day

I have that infernal pig latin song stuck in my head. Been there since I woke up, nothing I can do about it.

Today is a day. That's all I got. I'm pretty tired, and tonight, apparently, I have to be in charge of a vital piece of equipment on the stage that is NOT the piece of equipment I just spent three days acquainting myself with and I have no idea of what to do with said equipment. (Instead of spot, I'll be running the giant clock that currently does not exist.) Super.

Yesterday I spent two hours installing new hardware on the computers of ten unappreciative case managers who fear change or anything that resembles it. I like helping out the IT guy, and it gives me something to do, but I finally announced that I have to do this on 20 computers and it's bad enough that I have to crawl around on the ground and maneuver wires under and around people's desks, knocking over the 15 years of tchochkes and dust that have accumulated thereon, without having to listen to each person complain about the new technology. And today I have to do ten more. But it's something to do, and huzzah for that! (It is amazing how much junk people gather on their desks - I can't stand having anything that's not work-related on my desk, other than a few framed photographs and a plant. By the way, my calla lily now has six shoots and is doing remarkably well. I'm very proud of myself.)

Got the recording of the Jacksonville show today - J burned a copy of it for me. I love how good the guys sound. They're all so tight together, it's like they've been playing together forever. Mike's so much stronger as an artist than he was five years ago, John's still a bad mofo, J's the only guitarist (the most major change over the course of five years) and a damn good one, and the drummer blows my mind - I always forget what a good drummer he is until the show starts, and it comes as a surprise every time, like "Wait, how many things is that guy actually doing at once? Is he playing, like, seven different pieces of percussion right now?"

1940s goodness: I have to agree that Todd is a very cool guy. I wish I had the ability to be warm and friendly with people that quickly. I can be immediately warm and friendly if they are, but I'm never the warm/friendliness instigator.

I said something today that sounded exactly like Kyle, and wrote something in an email yesterday that read exactly like Eric had written it. It's funny how I pick up the inflections, catch-phrases, and mannerisms of the people I'm around, but I'm totally okay with that. Nothing wrong with attempting to emulate the people you love.
