Knotty, Knotty!

Today I'm happy because someone in the immediate vicinity of my house got a wireless router and forgot to lock it. I'm giving it a week, and then I'm cancelling my Internet. If someone's innocent ignorance can save me fifty bucks a month, you bet I'll do it.

Mom's visit ended too soon - she was just down here for 36 hours, but we had so much fun! We went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith yesterday, then went to PF Changs for lunch (where I fell in love with the vegetarian lettuce wraps) and for gelato. (If you haven't been to Il Gelatone in Thornton Park yet - for the love of God, why not?!)

I'm still adjusting to this new haircut - not sure if I love it or hate it, but it is kind of fun trying to come up with ways to style it. So far, the natty beach-hair look is my favourite.

The other night, at The Rainmaker, something terrible happened. Someone uttered the line, "We got a call in over the wire that an outlaw goes by the name of Tornado Johnson is headed into town." I closed my eyes just a split second before it caught on, because I felt it coming...and Travis turned to me (just guess his last name) and grinned ear-to-ear. He has found his one true calling in life - to live up to his new nickname. Mind you, I refused to call him "Tornado", and told him I would only if he'd call me Snookie (another character from the show). I had underestimated him, assuming that he wasn't big on anything that would seem like a pet name. Now, not only am I getting pestered to call him Tornado, I'm stuck with the nickname "Snookie".

I think I've resolved to just enjoy my break from theatre for the summer, or at least half the summer.

Last night, I conned Travis into coming over and doing some handyman work (light fixture installation) in exchange for dinner. Yes, it would appear we're at the bartering man's-work for woman's-work stage already. Still, it was a very good evening...pretty low-key, just pizza and a DVD. I like those unplanned nights, you know - making plans is great and all, but the spontaneous evenings are wonderful - sometimes it's nice not getting all tied up.

I love spontaneous evenings. I plan them regularly. Mark them in my calendar once a week every week, without fail.
