In The Beginning...

Welcome to my new blog, which I have finally gotten around to ripping off from my dear pal Luerne. Thanks for the tip!

Few explanations - terribleyoyo is based on what is probably my favorite scripted line of all time, from Picasso at the Lapin Agile by Steve Martin, "I think a yoyo will be a wonderful thing to play with and a terrible thing to be." I guess I could have gone with wonderfulyoyo, but I like the pessimistic version.

...And Hilarity Ensues is the theme to my life as it stands currently. Whenever something starts out as a normal excursion, such as attending a play with friends, it usually starts out simple, as in "So a bunch of us decide to catch Noises Off in Ocala" and could be summed up with "...and hilarity ensues."

Today's example: I started the laundry today, and hilarity ensued. Here goes the actual narrative.

Washer and dryer are in the garage and I was out starting a load of whites barefoot. I stepped back. Hard. Onto a frog. Toes first. Yeah, so I'm terrified of frogs now. That was easily the most horrifying disgusting moment of my life. I guess the upside is I now have a basis for any scene where I will ever need to panic or freak out. Did you ever hear yourself scream and think "My God, that's really my scared noise?" That's what this was like - I'm ashamed, and a little amused, to realize that I freak out like a 13 year-old cheerleader. I can't even describe it, but there was much hopping and shrieking, followed by a frantic dash through the house and another five minutes standing in the tub, with more shrieking and hopping and a great deal of soap bubbles and excruciatingly hot water. My feet have never been cleaner, though. It took J about five minutes to follow my command of "AAAHHHH GO CLEAN IT UP GET IT GET IT JESUS OH MY GOD" because he was laughing too hard. Yeah, that's why I love him.
